DIM has saved me several times already, and I have more than 100 icons on my desktop, so I donated 5.00 Dollars, thanks again!
And I would also like to have info about updates :o)
Andreas
Small donation from me with heartfelt thanks…
Invaluable and fills a massive need.
(and I think I remember earlier version had a pic of your daughter.. could be wrong.. Family first!!)
I would love to have the option to choose a background that should be set when I hide my desktop icons. Showing them would then set the background back to what it was before. I use the app to hide the desktop icons while recording videos and I use a different background as well so it would be nice to have that all in one.
I use multiple, virtual desktops in Expose on a single display. Hide Desktop Icons often gives me black desktops and I need to do a Force Desktop Refresh to get Apple’s default desktop.
Thank you. Make sure you have the current Hide Icon version (2.0.2) on ‘the geek shop’ page. There are some problems with Apple’s CoreGraphics routines that would cause the black screens. v2.0.2 should be more robust. Also, if you switch quickly between multiple Desktops, Hide Icons may not be able to keep up and also show black screens.
What are the settings in Finder that cause icon positions to be “lost”? I have icons all over the place on my M1 Mac mini every time I log on after locking the screen or running the screensaver. But my M2 MacBook doesn’t exhibit this behaviour….
It was never documented where the icon positions are stored. Sometimes it’s in the .DS_Store file and other times it is in the metadata for a file. Hopefully DIM can force a memorization/store.
Hello,
Your DIM application is very useful for my 49-inch curved screen, and especially for finding my 6 connected hard disks in order (a necessity for X-Plane).
I donated $10.
Just a note: on Sonoma, the āAutomaticaay Restore Icon Positions at startā function doesn’t work.
I have to wait for my āTime Machineā disk (8TB) to be mounted and recognized as a time machine before I can click on the āRestore Icon Positionsā button.
Thank you Alain! Not sure why one would have to wait for Time Machine to finish for DIM to Restore Icon Positions. If I can reproduce, I’ll look for a fix.
I’m impressed with DIM because you did it in 64-bit and therefore just donated $10.
Please keep me informed of updates/news about DIM.
Thanks David!
Yes, the current version of DIM is 64-bit clean and appears to work fine on macOS 10.15.beta2 (Catalina) which does require 64-bit apps.
You’re on our mailing list for DIM improvements.

Thanks Andreas!
Your timing is impeccable- we’re almost set to release a new version of DIM.
That sounds good :o)

Yes, the icon for DIM use to be a pic of my daughters. The new icon was created by my wife, so it’s all in the family.

I just contributed towards DIM. Works on Ventura M1. Fantastic app. Thank you!
Thank you Joseph!

I’m curious to know what has screwed up ….
Many thanks – Gary
